The main purpose of periodic inspection and testing is to detect as far as possible any factors that may impair or likely impair the safety of an electrical system. Every electrical installation deteriorates with use and age.
The following should always be covered:
Safety of persons against the effects of electric shock and burns
Protection against damage to property by fire and heat arising from electric shock and burns
Protection against damage to property by fire and heat arising from an installation defect
Confirmation that the installation is not damaged or deteriorated so as to impair safety
Identification of non-compliances with the current issue of BS7671 or installation defects which may give rise to danger.
In certain cases, inspections need to be done which means we have to remove spot lights, lights and socket outlets that have not been undone or taken away in many years. In most cases paint can be chipped and cracked around the electrical outlet. Please, bear this in mind.
Once an installation has passed this does not mean that nothing will go wrong with the installation electrically within the required re-test time. This test simply verifies that at the time of inspection the system was safe.
If we have to return when EICR fails on domestic premises, we will charge a minimum of £100.00 plus VAT. This would be more for commercial establishments.
We do not give out certifications just for the sake of giving them out. We will only give a Safety Certification once it passes. Fail or pass, we charge the agreed price.
Eight circuits is general for a standard home, this means that we will choose certain circuits to test.
This does not mean that all circuits will be tested, but only the ones the engineer decides to test unless special requirements are made by the customer telling us specifically what they like us to test, but this must be put in writing 48 hours before the work commences.
We charge £25.00 plus VAT per circuit after the initial 8 circuits, this is only for domestic premises.
